How batch scaling works

Pictures are decoded, scaled and encoded one after another in a background thread, so the page stays responsive and memory stays flat however many you add. Each row shows its source size, the output size the rule produced and the encoded file size. Download files individually or as one ZIP with names like photo-1920x1280.jpg.

Choosing a rule

  • Long edge — the usual rule for websites and galleries: no picture larger than, say, 2048 px either way.
  • Exact size with Fill & crop — identical thumbnails or product tiles.
  • Exact size with Pad — identical canvases without cutting anything off.
  • Percent or megapixels — proportional reductions for archives.

Questions

How many images can I scale at once?

There is no fixed limit; pictures are processed one at a time, so the practical limit is your device’s memory for holding the finished files. A few hundred typical photos is fine on a laptop.

Can I keep each file’s original format?

Yes, choose “Same as source”: JPEGs stay JPEG, PNGs stay PNG, WebPs stay WebP; anything else is saved as PNG.

Is AI upscaling available in batch?

Not yet — batch uses the classical engine so a large set finishes in seconds. Use the AI image upscaler one picture at a time.

Is my picture uploaded anywhere?

No. Decoding, scaling and encoding all run in this browser tab, and the scaling engine runs in a Web Worker with no network code in it. The only download the site can make for you is an AI model file, and only after you press the button that names its size — that request contains no picture.
